ASIET- T3 MBA 2017Keerthana V J @ KAMCO , Athani
The
Internship study done at “Kerala Agro Machinery Corporation Limited, Athani”
was undertaken with the objective to get an idea about overall functioning of
an organization and instilling the practice of management in the intern. Agricultural machinery refers to the machinery used
at various stages in farming and other agricultural production activities.
Increasing demand for food and supplies to support the rapidly increasing
worldwide population is driving the need for agricultural equipment on a global
level. Favorable government policies such as the promotion of FDI in the
agriculture sector in the developing countries is further adding to the demand
for agricultural machinery. While Green Revolution of the 1970s is one
of the biggest milestones in this regard, farm mechanization is the talk of the
present. The latest trends suggest that considerable numbers of farmers have
started opting for machines, beyond tractors.
Kerala Agro Machinery
Corporation Ltd. (KAMCO) was established in the year
1973 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Kerala Agro Industries

I worked in the finance department
of the organization and also worked in
the payroll section of the organization. The person to whom I had to report in
the payroll section was accounting staff
Mrs. Sangeetha P.G. In the
payroll section I recorded the salary of the employees. it is a part of data management
and the management information system.
The areas which I deal have an impact on the items of financial statement of
the company. The salary of employees is the expenses incurred by the company
and it comes in the debit side of the profit and loss a/c. The regular
employees get medical benefits in the form of reimbursement of their medical
bill.it can be either partial or full reimbursement. This reimbursement is also
an expense for the company. Any kind of miscalculation in these expenses affects
the profit and loss a/c and there by the Net profit of the company.
In finance department I also recorded
the purchase plan and purchase order according to the invoice no. and invoice
date of respective suppliers. Purchases come under the trading a/c which
affects the gross profit of the company. Suppliers are the creditors which come
under the current liabilities in the balance sheet and the changes in the
creditors affect the working capital of the company. Age-wise analysis of
debtors and creditors outstanding help the KAMCO to manage its working capital
in an appropriate manner.
The date of joining and date of resigning
of regular staff, contract staff and apprentices are recorded. Some employees
resign very soon and most of the employees remain in the organization. This
helps to find out the employee retention rate of the organization.
The overall reporting was done to the head
of the department Mr. P.K.Madhavan. He gave full support to conduct the
internship successfully. He provided advice and guidelines to us and also how
to behave in an organization.
This 45 days Internship
Program aimed at creating an opportunity for me to observe, learn, assimilate,
and analyses the objectives and vision of the Organization and functioning of
its various departments. This enabled me to get a practical and
real time feel of various aspects concerned with the organization and to
relate to the concepts studied in the classroom.
The “internship study” at KAMCO, Athani was under
taken with the objective of developing an insight about administration and management
of a business firm. The study at KAMCO helped me to gain good knowledge about
the operation of a business firm. It gave me a better insight about real life
business apart from the classroom studies.
